Tammie Collins
Hey – I’m Tammie and I LOVE WHAT I DO!!!
‘For me, costume design is so much more than clothing – it’s storytelling. It’s where fabric, form, and imagination meet… and where magic happens.’
I’m a South Australian costume designer who’s completely obsessed with turning imagination into something you can actually wear. I recently graduated from Flinders University & TAFE SA with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Costume)
My work blends fantasy, folklore, and high couture detail.
My pieces range from whimsical fairies with glowing wings to bold, sculptural creatures. My costumes have been showcased at Flinders University, where I was awarded the Certificate of Merit, and at the Royal Adelaide Show, where my creature, ‘The Chamberlain’ vulture, swooped in and won first prize for craftsmanship.
I’ve been sewing since I was six, when I got my first sewing machine for Christmas, following in my mum and Nana’s footsteps. Since then, I’ve explored all kinds of clothing, but the moment I made my first costume for a high school play, I knew I’d found my passion. Over the years, I’ve also been involved in dance, and more recently, I’ve had the chance to design for a couple of movies and theatre productions.
I draw inspiration from mythology, the past, stage performance, and my own family. My youngest daughter is often my model (and fairy muse). The creations I’m showing here include an iridescent mermaid gown, a dark fantasy creature, and a light-winged fairy.
Please join me in my world of fantasy costuming; it’s a fun place to be.
