Chonkai

The word “Chonkai” comes from the Colombian Wayuu Indigenous language and means “son of the sun.” Chonkai is a Spanish-speaking group dedicated to learning and rehearsing Latin American folkloric dances with the purpose of performing and showcasing these dances at different events in Australia.

The group represents the history and traditions of Latin American countries and their people through dance, and promotes Latin American culture in Australia by sharing folkloric expressions on stage.
