Annie Beatty
Hi, I’m Annie Beatty Freeman, though online you’ll usually find me under the name Reversetibbers (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok). Sewing has been a huge part of my life for the past nine years. I started out teaching myself for about five years—lots of late nights, broken needles, and experimenting until things finally worked! These days, I’m in my final year of a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Costume Design, which has really helped me take my skills to the next level.
Sewing isn’t just a hobby for me anymore—it’s become the path I want to follow as a career. I love the process of turning an idea into something wearable, something that makes people feel powerful or connected to a character. At the moment, I’m taking on costume commissions in my spare time, which has been such a fun way to work with different people and bring their visions to life.
Before I decided to fully dive into the creative world, I worked in aged care for four years. It was incredibly rewarding, and it taught me a lot about patience, kindness, and looking after people—all things I carry with me into my work now.
When I’m not sewing or buried in uni projects, I’m at home with my three cats: Luna, Gandalf, and Sua Đá (which means ice milk in Vietnamese). They’re a little chaotic, a little cuddly, and pretty much the best studio assistants I could ask for.
